Test Results

bloodTests requested by a practice GP or nurse

If your doctor has requested tests (blood, urine, skin etc) the results will be sent back to the practice. We usually suggest that patients wait for 10 working days before checking/calling for results, to ensure all details are back (some tests take longer than others). All results are reviewed by your own doctor (or another GP if they are away from the practice) and any comments about them are recorded.

You can now access your results yourself, by registering for on-line access to your medical records - see home page.  There is a useful 'information' facility, but please be aware, especially if you log on promptly after your blood was taken that all the results may not be back.  If you wish to call in for your results, please ring between 10am and 4pm, if possible.  That's when the phone lines are less busy and our staff will have more time to help you.  Our results team will pass on the message that your doctor has left after reviewing your results but they will not be able to explain the clinical significance of them.

Reception can arrange for you to speak to the doctor or nurse who requested the tests originally if you require any additional information.

Tests requested by a hospital clinician

Results of tests performed in hospital are generally sent to the hospital doctors who requested them. They do not usually get sent to the practice unless specifically requested.  In this situation, please contact the hospital.
